What's your story?

Many people leave their churches or are pushed out of them.
I hope you'll consider sharing your story here, so we might all learn from it.

  1. I left my church after growing up in the church, going to a christian school, participating in mission trips, teaching bible school, leading the worship teams in my church and school, and even leading people to become christians themselves. As an ex-christian for the last 8 years or so, I never thought I would get to this point. I always thought I'd be a christian until the day I die and never once falter. But, the more I research the relgion (sorry, relationship....that's what we always said) I can honestly say it's completely illogical. For some of the same reasons I think mormonism is false, christianity does the same thing. (like the reading of the tablets, then having to re-read a whole other set of tablets...moses did the same thing, he came down from the mountain, saw the sinning going on, destroyed the tablets and went back up to re-write a whole other lot). This is just one instance that I struggled with throughout my journey. I asked my questions with an open mind and sought an honest answer, but kept getting nowhere. So, the more I thought about things logically and realistically...the less they made sense....to where now I completely don't agree with any organized religion and consider myself ex-christian.

That is my story as to why I left the church. Am I the first person to comment? I'd like to see other people's stories as well, if you have them. :)
